Staying in Omoromachi, Naha’s “new downtown,” or just stopping by for shopping and a meal, and then wanting to head out by car? If you are searching for a car rental in Naha that is not at the airport, the first question is simple: where, exactly, can you pick up a car near the station?
Around Omoromachi Station there are two different kinds of rental offices. One is a group of four major companies with counters inside the large shopping complex right by the station. The other is a street-level shop a few minutes’ walk away. This article compares five companies you can rent from around Omoromachi on four points: how easy they are to reach from the station, opening hours, how insurance coverage is handled, and whether one-way drop-off is possible. It is written for people who plan to rent in the city rather than at Naha Airport, which is probably what you are looking for if you searched for “Okinawa car rental” and ended up here.
What renting in Omoromachi really means
No shuttle bus to catch, unlike at the airport
At Naha Airport, most rental offices sit outside the terminal, and you normally ride a shuttle bus to reach them. Omoromachi works differently: the offices are within walking distance of Omoromachi Station on the Yui Rail monorail. From Naha Airport Station to Omoromachi Station, the Yui Rail takes about 19 minutes and costs 320 yen for an adult (160 yen for a child), according to the Yui Rail official website. So you can land, hop on the monorail, and pick up your car in the middle of the city.
Four companies share one building by the station
On the 2nd floor of T Galleria Okinawa by DFS (formerly DFS Galleria Okinawa), which is directly connected to Omoromachi Station, you will find the counters of four companies: Toyota Rent a Car, ORIX Rent-A-Car, Sky Rent a Car, and Nippon Rent-A-Car. Being able to rent a car inside the same building where you shop is the biggest feature of this area.
UMUI Rent a Car’s Omoromachi branch, by contrast, is not inside the complex. It is a 3-minute walk from Omoromachi Station.
There is no airport pickup, so plan your own transfer
The UMUI Omoromachi branch does not offer an airport shuttle. Toyota Rent a Car and Sky Rent a Car also state on their official websites that they have no pickup or delivery service. If you are coming from the airport, you will be using the Yui Rail.
Five car rental companies near Omoromachi
No. 1: UMUI Rent a Car, Omoromachi Branch
We are the author of this article, so we have placed ourselves first, and we want to be clear about the reason: CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) and NOC (Non-Operation Charge) coverage are both included in the base rate. You do not need to add an insurance fee at the counter, so you pay the amount you saw when you booked.
The Omoromachi branch has five vehicle classes: Compact Car A and B, Compact SUV, Station Wagon, and Minivan. Standard-season rates (as of October 2026, tax included) for Compact Car A are 5,500 yen for 12 hours, 6,600 yen for 24 hours, and 4,400 yen per day from the second day onward. A minivan is 12,100 yen for 24 hours and 9,900 yen per day from the second day. In the peak season, Compact Car A costs 11,000 yen for 24 hours.
With online check-in, which you complete on your smartphone before departure, you can enter your details and review the coverage and rental terms in advance. Booking and online check-in are available in Japanese, English, Korean, and Traditional Chinese. Payment is by credit card or electronic money; cash is not accepted.
There are also two points you should know before choosing us. We do not offer one-way rentals (returning the car to a different branch or location), and our hours of 9:00 to 18:00 are shorter than some of the other companies below.

No. 2: Toyota Rent a Car, Omoromachi Ekimae DFS Okinawa Naha Branch
This is a nationwide major company with an office on the 2nd floor of T Galleria Okinawa. Its official website says it is about a 3-minute walk from the station ticket gate exit to the entrance on the 2nd floor. ETC card rental and barrier-free access are available, and phone reservations from Okinawa are accepted from 10 months before departure.
On one-way rentals, the branch page says “returns from other branches accepted (within Okinawa Prefecture only).” However, some vehicle classes cannot be rented or returned this way. If you plan to pick up here and return to another branch, please check the conditions and fees on the official website. Hours are 9:00 to 18:00, the same closing time as UMUI’s Omoromachi branch.
For coverage, the official website lists CDW at 1,100 yen per 24 hours (2,200 yen for some classes), and the “Anshin W Plan,” which also waives NOC, at 1,650 yen per 24 hours. These are charged separately from the displayed rental rate.

No. 3: ORIX Rent-A-Car, Omoromachi Ekimae Branch
This counter is also on the 2nd floor of T Galleria Okinawa, directly connected to Omoromachi Station. The branch name changed to “Omoromachi Ekimae” on July 1, 2025. Hours are 9:00 to 19:00, one hour longer than UMUI. One-way rentals are possible with both pickup and return on the main island of Okinawa (excluding The Busena Terrace counter). This is a clear advantage over UMUI, which does not accept one-way rentals.
For departures from September 1 to December 24, 2026, the branch page lists rates from 4,400 yen for 12 hours in the SA class and from 5,830 yen for 6 hours in the SA class under the Okinawa Drive Plan. Please check the official website for eligibility conditions and how coverage is handled. ETC card rental is not available.

No. 4: Sky Rent a Car, T Galleria Okinawa Branch
This branch is next to Omoromachi Station and is reached through the 2nd-floor connecting passage. It is open every day of the year from 9:00 to 19:00, and the official website says it is about 15 minutes from the airport by Yui Rail. There is no airport shuttle.
Its strength is the number of extras that come with a booking made on the official website. The site mentions a campaign for free child seats for official-website bookings only (up to 2 seats per vehicle with the Family Plan), free T Galleria discount coupons, and the option to use Rakuten Points and ANA or JAL miles. Credit cards and PayPay are accepted. The branch page does not list a one-way fee.

No. 5: Nippon Rent-A-Car, Omoromachi Ekimae Office
This office is also on the 2nd floor of T Galleria Okinawa. It is directly connected to Omoromachi Station and described as about 19 minutes from Naha Airport Station. Hours are 9:00 to 19:00 every day, including public holidays. T Galleria itself opens at 10:00, but the 2nd-floor front entrance to this office is accessible from 9:00.
On one-way rentals, the office page says “returns from other offices only.” Whether you can pick up here and return to a different office is something to confirm in advance on the official website or by phone (050-1712-2418). The office page does not list rates or coverage, but the coverage guide on the company’s official website (Full Support from 2,200 yen per day) is a useful reference.

- On the day you arrive from the airport, take the Yui Rail. There is no airport shuttle. It takes about 19 minutes from Naha Airport Station and costs 320 yen for an adult.
- Check the closing time first. UMUI and Toyota close at 18:00; ORIX, Sky, and Nippon close at 19:00. Plan your return around that time.
- Finish online check-in beforehand. With UMUI, you can enter your details and review the rental terms on your phone before departure.
- If you need a one-way rental, check the conditions before booking. Even within the same company, the conditions can differ between the pickup side and the return side.

Will UMUI Rent a Car’s Omoromachi branch pick me up at the airport?
The Omoromachi branch has no airport shuttle. From Naha Airport, take the Yui Rail to Omoromachi Station and walk 3 minutes from there. The ride takes about 19 minutes from Naha Airport Station and costs 320 yen for an adult. If you want a shuttle from the airport, please use our Naha Airport branch, which offers one.
If I take CDW, will I owe nothing after an accident?
CDW waives the deductible (the excess you would otherwise pay for vehicle damage), but NOC (Non-Operation Charge) is a separate item. At UMUI Rent a Car, both CDW and NOC coverage are included in the base rate. For details, see our coverage page.

If you have an International Driving Permit issued under the Geneva Convention by a member country, you can drive.
